Why Zodiac Sign Dates Aren't Actually Fixed
Every zodiac sign is defined by 30 degrees of the Sun's path against the seasons, not by a fixed slot on the calendar. Because the calendar year and the solar year don't divide evenly, the Sun's actual entry into each sign drifts by up to a day, year to year.
Most sites publish one range per sign and never revisit it. That works for almost everyone, and fails exactly the readers it should serve best: anyone born within a day of a cusp, who genuinely cannot tell their sign from a fixed date alone.
Each sign page below renders its real 2020–2030 start-date table, computed from this site's own ephemeris rather than copied from elsewhere, so a cusp birthday gets a real answer instead of a guess.
Zodiac sign questions
What are the 12 zodiac signs in order?
Starting from the spring equinox: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign owns 30 degrees of the zodiac wheel, and the Sun moves through all 12 once a year.
Why do zodiac sign dates change every year?
The tropical zodiac is measured against the seasons, not the fixed 365.25-day calendar, so the Sun's exact entry into each sign drifts by up to a day from year to year. Most sites publish one fixed range forever; each sign page here shows the real computed date for your specific birth year, 2020 through 2030.
What if I was born on the cusp between two signs?
Open the page for the sign you think you are and check the year-by-year table against your exact birth date. If you were born within about a day of the listed date, the fixed range cannot resolve it. The full birth chart calculator can, using your exact birth time.
What is my zodiac sign based on my birth date?
Your Sun sign is set by your birth date. Choose your sign below to see its exact yearly start date and what it means, or use the calculator above to have it worked out for you.
Is my Sun sign my whole personality?
No. Your Sun sign is your core identity, but a full birth chart also reads your Moon sign (your inner emotional world) and Rising sign (the impression you make first), both of which need your birth time and location to calculate.
